Building Financial Capability Across Manchester

Since 2013, we have worked with families who want practical money skills, not abstract theory.

Team collaboration and planning session

Why We Exist

Financial illiteracy is not a character flaw. It is a predictable outcome of an education system that teaches calculus but skips compound interest.

We started after seeing too many capable adults struggle with basic financial decisions simply because no one ever taught them. The knowledge gap affects everyone from school children managing pocket money to professionals planning retirement.

Our programmes fill that gap with structured, jargon-free education that respects your intelligence while acknowledging what you were never taught.

Our Principles

Practical Application

Every concept ties to real decisions you face. No theoretical exercises disconnected from actual financial life.

No Judgement

Where you start matters less than where you want to go. We meet participants at their current level.

Long-term Thinking

Quick fixes create dependency. We teach frameworks you can apply across changing circumstances.

Transparent Costs

Course fees are stated upfront. No upsells, no hidden materials fees, no required follow-on purchases.

How Our Programmes Work

Each course combines instructor-led sessions with independent work. You receive a structured curriculum, supplementary reading materials, and practical exercises.

Sessions run in small groups to allow individual questions. Between sessions, you complete workbook exercises based on your actual financial situation, not hypothetical scenarios.

Our instructors have backgrounds in finance, education, or both. They teach concepts clearly and answer questions without condescension.

Meet the Team

Our instructors bring diverse professional backgrounds unified by a commitment to clear, practical financial education.

Rebecca Thompson

Lead Instructor, Adult Programmes

Former mortgage adviser who switched to education after realising most financial problems stem from knowledge gaps, not income levels.

Marcus Chen

Youth Education Specialist

Developed our junior and teen curricula. Background in secondary education and behavioural economics.

Alison Foster

Investment Programme Director

Twenty years in portfolio management before transitioning to investor education. Holds CFA designation.

Community Involvement

Beyond paid programmes, we partner with Manchester community centres to deliver free financial literacy workshops. Topics range from understanding payslips to avoiding common debt traps.

We also provide pro bono sessions for local secondary schools when requested, though we believe financial education should be integrated into standard curriculum rather than relying on external providers.
